The latest city bracing for the Trump administration's immigration crackdown is Charlotte, which could see an influx of federal agents as early as this weekend, a county sheriff said Thursday.

One group said it is seeing more paranoia in the city, which could lead to people skipping on getting help they need.

Before he got a call this week from CNN about reports US Border Patrol agents might be headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, City Councilmember Malcolm Graham had no idea such a plan was even in the cards.

Gregory Bovino, a U.S. Border Patrol official who has led Trump's aggressive crackdown in Chicago since September, has plans to head to New Orleans later this year, the current official said, citing internal documents.
