The decision was approved on February 13, 2025 by Meta’s Compensation, Nominating, and Governance Committee (CNGC). However, the bonus will not be provided to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. And, Meta justified the increase by stating that its executive compensation was falling behind industry competitors.

Recently, Meta announced plans to lay off over 3,000 employees, due to low performance ratings.

Some Meta executives are currently trying to get some sweet bonus deals from Mark Zuckerberg and they have been largely successful in this attempt as some of them have received 200 per cent bonuses for themselves.

This decision comes shortly after Meta laid off 5% of its workforce, reportedly targeting underperforming employees

The company said in an SEC filing it was increasing its "target bonus percentage" for named executive officers from 75% of their base salary to 200% of it. The changes will take effect from the 2025 annual performance period and do not include the company's CEO,

Meta executives are set to receive significantly larger bonuses this year, even as the company implements layoffs affecting 5% of its workforce. According to a corporate filing on Thursday, Meta’s board approved an increase in the target bonus percentage for its executive compensation plan.
