The National Weather Service issued an updated flash flood warning at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday in effect until 9:45 p.m. for Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties.

A Flash Flood Warning was in place Tuesday night as a slow and soaking rain storm pounded the city of Chicago. The warning affected a narrow, but densely populated area that included downtown Chicago.

A tornado warning has expired for Ocean and Monmouth counties in New Jersey. The warning was in effect from about 6:40 p.m. until 7:15 p.m. A heat advisory is in effect across much of the area from 10 a.

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 16 miles west of Toms River, moving east at 20 mph. Radar indicates rotation.

Tuesday has been a hot and muggy one for the Philadelphia area with high temperatures in the 90s and the oppressive heat has given way to a round of scattered storms, some of which have turned severe in some places.
