On the other side, Davis Mills (filling in again for the injured C.J. Stroud) won't face as difficult a unit in the Bills defense. Sean McDermott's defense has given up at least 30 points in back-to-back games and has one of the worst run defenses in the NFL, allowing teams to average 153 yards per game on the ground (31st).

As we noted in our overall staff picks earlier this week, recent history suggests the Lions are a very solid bet to win and cover this week. To revisit: The Lions are coming off a Week 11 loss to the Eagles,

“The Lions are 3-1 at home, and they won those games by an average margin of 23.3 points per game. Jameis Winston had two turnovers in the loss to the Packers in Week 12. Detroit will get on track in a convincing fashion here to get ready for the rematch with Green Bay on Thanksgiving.”

The NFL announced a change to the Week 14 schedule on Thursday. The Bears' game against the Packers at Lambeau Field will now start at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday rather than at 1 p.m. It will take the place of the Bengals-Bills game in Buffalo, which will now move into the early window of games that weekend.

In late afternoon games, the Denver Broncos delivered a gut punch to the Chiefs' division title chances by knocking off Kansas City, 22-19. The biggest difference between the two teams is that the Broncos have been clutch this year and the Chiefs haven't.

The AFC playoff race entering Week 12 can be divided into two sections: The three two-loss teams (Denver, New England and Indianapolis) and everybody else. The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the “everybody else” category of teams with a 6-4 record entering their game at Arizona on Sunday, Nov. 23.
