You'll have to wait for more than a couple of years for the next Star Wars movie. According to Variety and The Wrap, Disney has pulled an untitled Star Wars film from its 2026 release lineup and replacing it with Ice Age 6,

One of Disney's new Star Wars movies has been replaced by Ice Age 6 in a release date shake-up. An untitled movie in the science-fiction franchise, believed to be the next adventure for Daisy Ridley's Rey, was scheduled for December 18, 2026.

A common criticism of the recent trilogy is that the story or franchise lacks clear direction. That still seems to be the case; only Disney has become even more gun-shy since Rise Of Skywalker. Sadly, Star Wars is primarily a press release property now, but that may be the best form for it to take.

Turmoil continues at Lucasfilm as Disney has pulled the 2026 "Star Wars" movie from the release calendar, the company announced on Friday.

Disney announced last week that Simon Kinberg had been brought on to write and produce a Star Wars trilogy. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will also produce the trilogy, with sources telling The Hollywood Reporter at the time that the films would involve new characters and would not be a continuation of the previous Skywalker Saga that spanned Episodes 1 through 9 of the sci-fi film franchise.

That leaves just two Star Wars films still standing on the company’s schedule: A very far-off and untitled movie currently aimed at December 17, 2027, as well as the only one of these movies we expect might actually have a chance in hell of coming out: Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian And Grogu,
