Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu conferred PM Modi with the ‘Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger’ (GCON) in Abuja on. It will be the 17th such international award being conferred to PM Modi by a country.

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi the ’Grand Commander of the Order of Niger’ (GCON) in recognition of his statesmanship and efforts to strengthen India-Nigeria relations.

After being conferred with Nigeria’s highest national honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the honour will continue to inspire him to elevate the India-Nigeria strategic partnership to new heights.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ongoing three-nation tour began with a significant stop in Nigeria, where he arrived on Sunday.

PM Narendra Modi is on a three-nation visit scheduled from November 17 to November 21. On the first leg of his visit, he reached Nigeria today. This visit is the first by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria in 17 years.
