President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of the Department of Energy, Chris Wright, is receiving praise from Republican lawmakers and industry groups, while environmentalists warn he would jeopardize efforts to curb climate change if he is confirmed.

Wright, CEO of the oilfield services firm Liberty Energy and a major Republican donor, said last year that “there is no climate crisis.”

Wright, the founder and CEO of Liberty Energy, will need to try and boost US energy production as electric vehicles (EVs) and cryptocurrency trading push up demand.
