Taking this a stage further, another design turns the Cybertruck into an armored tank for military combat, complete with heavy armor and a 360-degree tank gun. Undercarriage shielding also protects it from mines, while the Cybertruck's electronic components are wrapped in a faraday cage to protect them from EMP blasts.

Bearing that concept in mind, graphics designer Jan Peisert has rendered some armored Cybertrucks with civil and military purposes in mind. According to Tesla, the Cybertruck’s 30x cold-rolled stainless steel body is bullet-proof against a 9mm handgun, Elon Musk also demonstrated this in his presentation at the Cybertruck unveiling last year.

But as to how an electric pickup truck such as the Tesla Cybertruck can be utilized by the U.S. Army, Peisert and Electric Future explored three ways – as an armored personnel carrier, a reconnaissance unit and a combat vehicle.

In a way, an all-electric pickup truck would actually make sense for the military. The Cybertruck (or at least a military-spec variant of the vehicle) would be a breeze to charge if it’s stationed in a nuclear-powered ship, for example, allowing the US military to transport less extra fuel during its excursions.

With Tesla CEO Elon Musk describing the Cybertruck as ‘an armored personnel carrier from the future’, several people suggested that the military could end up using the Cybertruck as a platform to build electric military vehicles.
