55’ Chris-Craft Commander. 43 hulls built 1970-77. 16.5 beam. 8V-71N Diesels. A “ten-sleeper” with a dishwasher, garbage disposal, large refrigerator/freezer and ice maker. Pictured here on deck is designer Dick Avery and his wife Maureen (standing on deck with the black and white striped pants) She recounted the story of posing for sales pictures and making these pants out of drapes from her home! 38’ Chris-Craft Commander Express. Last year marked the 60th anniversary of her debut at the 1964 New York Boat Show, showcasing Chris-Craft's entry into the modern "big" boatbuilding era with its all-fiberglass construction. The hull was the last design by "Mac" Mackerer who had worked for Chris-Craft as far back as 1925, and the styling by Fred Hudson. Many of these 38s are still running today!
