VAT CHANGES TO YOUR POWER BILL. Effective July 1st, the Government of the Bahamas increased Value Added Tax from 7.5% to 12%. The Government has also waived VAT on electricity bills for residential customers whose bills are $200 or less. Customers can expect to see VAT changes (12% VAT or VAT exemption) on their bills beginning August 1st, as this will reflect energy consumed in the month of July. VAT will be present on July bills for all customers at a rate of 7.5% representing energy consumed
